Edited the description blurb as follows:

Canadian soldiers fire an M777 155mm Howitzer field artillery gun at identified Taliban fighting positions in near the Sangin District Center area from an undisclosed forward operating base in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan April 7, 2007.

is now

Canadian soldiers fire an M777 155mm Howitzer field artillery gun from a forward operating base in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan April 7, 2007.

Weasel words, jargon, contradictions and unverifiable claims have been removed. I mean "identified Taliban fighting positions"? " in near the Sangin District Center area"? "undisclosed forward operating base"? Whoa, wait... what? Really? So, where exactly did you say this was again? What should be a short, factual, relevant, dare I say encyclopedic, description of what readers can see in the photograph was padded with extraneous, unreliable and subtly politicizing "facts" that have no place in an "encyclopedia focused" project.

It is subtle manipulation, intentional or otherwise, that introduces a political narrative to what should be objective, cut and dried facts. Many people still take Wikipedia at face value, something every non-sectarian contributor/editor should keep in mind. User2346 (留言) 12:07, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[回覆]
