The tagging of this image as coming from 1947 is very likely an error for several reasons.

1. The National archives does not give its date as 1947, it states instead the following. West Berlin, Germany. Marshall Plan aid to Germany totaled $1,390,600 and enabled that country to rise from the ashes of defeat, as symbolized by this worker in West Berlin. Even a year before the end of the Marshall Plan in 1951, Germany had surpassed her prewar industrial production level, ca. 1948 - ca. 1955

2. While the Marshall plan speech was made in June 1947 by Marshall, the "Marshall plan" itself was not signed into law by U.S. President Truman until April 1948.

3. Western Germany received assistance between 1948 - 1952

4. The contractual basis for the implementation of the Marshall Plan in West Germany was above all an agreement arranged in July 1948 between the American Government and the three military governors. Later came the agreement of December 15, 1949 on economic cooperation between the American Government and the government of the Federal Republic of Germany -- by the way the first international agreement concluded by the new German government. It was supplemented by an exchange of notes in December 1951 after the establishment of the MSA.[1]

the Western parts of Germany received Marshall plan assistance in the years 1948 - 1952. Based on the above (and the fact that although the plan was signed in spring of 1948, signed by the zone commanders in July 1948, it would probably take several months before aid started going, and since Germany was a minor beneficiary (they only received 10% of the plans help, most of it went to France and the UK) I would hazard to guess that the image is from 1949. So we either change the date to 1949, or insert the span 1948-1952 in the date field. In either case using 1947 is completely wrong.Stor stark7 (talk) 14:22, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[回复]
