unfortunately, the source of this file is dead, but some references like [1], [2] and Gettyimages attribute this portrait to Fyodor Moller --Ibrahim.ID ♒ 00:25, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

• I would too, but an editor who goes by Iryna Harpy reverted one of my edits to a caption of this image in the Gogol article on Wikipedia; on the basis that the criteria for WP:RS[3] had not been met. By all means, restore the caption! I was only concerned with this particular portrait as being reliably sourced as being my Moller, which has more than adequately demonstrated by Ibrahim.ID. Aside from the sources, prior the cropping, you can actually see the artist's signature. I was only certain of the commemorative stamp image as being by Moller.
