In August 2012 I found this unsigned note on this page: {Note: This drawing by Catlin is not Nancy Ward. This is probably a Delaware Woman, but the Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa, Ok, may have more information about that.) So I searched the Internet and found that this image is NOT an image of Nancy Ward but of Ah-hee-te-wah-chee painted (from life I believe) in 1836. Nancy Ward is thought to have died about 1823. So it depends on when Nancy died and if this image was painted from life (I think Catlin always painted from life but I'm not sure). I think it is a Cherokee woman because archivists have tagged it Cherokee but that also should be double-checked. It's been let loose on the Internet as "Nancy Ward" and I don't see how to stop it so I won't take it down. It would be appropriate to represent her if it could be verified that Ah-hee-te-wah-chee is Cherokee. IMHO. --CDA (talk) 03:18, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[回覆]
