Map coloration[编辑]

While OPEC membership is certainly useful information to provide, wouldn't it be far more helpful to differentiate other regions by coloring based on oil production levels? The current differentiation seems silly at best. US states, Canadian provinces and North Sea producers can all be differentiated by their simple location. The only conceivable confusion might be whether Denmark (eg) has wells in the North Sea, the Baltic, or the continent, but that still seems less important than actual production levels. -LlywelynII (talk) 10:08, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[回复]

YES! That would be very helpful. Also, anybody want to convert it to SVG? Kevin chen2003 (talk) 00:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[回复]

I agree, that would definitely be a better option. GameSlayerGS (talk) 13:42, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[回复]

Ireland[编辑]

Ireland does not produce oil. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ei.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.255.85.116 (talk) 00:13, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[回复]

Sudan produces oil[编辑]

Why is Sudan not listed as an oil producing state? Oil is by far its most important export. - SimonP 19:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[回复]

Good question. It is now fixed. User:Ekrub-ntyh User talk:Ekrub-ntyh 20:46, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[回复]

British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Yukon & NW Territories produce oil. Nunavut has a number of proven discoveries which have technically "produced" in the process of well testing, and are awaiting the development of pipeline infrastructure.[编辑]

Ditto with BC & Nova Scotia. They produce oil as well, same with the North West Territories, though not a province it still produces oil. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.72.2.44 (talk) 03:39, 26 October 2006‎ (UTC)[回复]

British Columbia is wrongly identified as not producing oil. It does.
See the British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission's website for Reserve and production details.

The Liard basin in Northern British Columbia - which also extends into the Yukon, is a hotbed of exploration activity. These jurisdictions need to be further included as producing Canadian provinces/territories. There are also a number of exploration wells across all the northern provinces which have been drilled and capped awaiting the development of pipeline networks. Chevron in Canada website provides a quick overview for the nontechnical reader: http://www.chevron.ca/operations/exploration/northern.asp - a number of AAPG and Canadian Geologic Survey Open File Reports describe the specifics of these operations for anyone interested in doing some library work.

None of this matters as Canada should be identified as a country as a whole94.1.17.36 (talk) 19:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[回复]

Poland produces oil[编辑]

Poland also produces (but does not export) oil, it has among others two oil rigs in the Baltic sea run by the Petrobaltic comapany. Poland probably produces around 500 000 barrels of oil a year. Mieciu K 00:01, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[回复]

Uzbekistan produces oil[编辑]

Also Uzbekistan should be on the map: while it exports mostly gas, it also produces oil in quantities to meet internal needs.--Aldux 17:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[回复]

The Netherlands is on the North Sea[编辑]

The Netherlands is wrongly identified as an "other oil producing state", but it is best to say it is a "North sea oil state". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rick Smit (talkcontribs) 15:52, 27 March 2008‎ (UTC)[回复]

Agreed, the only oil the Netherlands produces comes from the North Sea — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.185.154.51 (talk) 03:40, 19 June 2008‎ (UTC)[回复]

Angola is now a member of OPEC[编辑]

Angola is now a memebr of OPEC. The map should now indicate Angola with blue, an OPEC country.70.45.162.150 18:32, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[回复]

AFAIK, Angola is a member of OPEC; and is not listed as such (in blue) --Pinnecco (talk) 14:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Ecuador is now a member of OPEC[编辑]

Ecuador is also a member of OPEC, but not coloured in blue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by --Andryuha (talkcontribs) 17:17, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Indonesia recently left OPEC[编辑]

Indonesia quit out of OPEC recently. It should not be coloured blue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GPS94 (talkcontribs) 11:52, 12 August 2008‎ (UTC)[回复]

US and Canada[编辑]

Any logical reason why the US and Canada should get prefer preferential treatment and the rest of the world be lumped as "other"? Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 08:50, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[回复]

I don't see any reason and also Canada and the United States of America should be drawn as every other country rather than split in to separate regions and states. 94.1.17.36 (talk) 19:10, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[回复]

2016 updates[编辑]

1. Gabon and Indonesia rejoined OPEC. 2. Netherlands - this is "North sea oil state" 212.34.37.242 08:52, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[回复]

Actually, Indonesia left OPEC again at the end of 2016. The map file hasn't been updated since early 2013. —Patrug (留言) 02:40, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[回复]
