Agreed, this photo was more than likely staged for public release, with the aircraft tied down on the ground with its engine running and the photo taken while the guns were firing. The final result would be achieved by careful masking of the background. A very similar photo was taken of the Bell P-39 Airacobra; the P-39 page on the Fiddlers Green paper modeling website describes how it was done, including a photo of the stage, and also mentions similar photos being taken of the P-47 and the Lockheed P-38. --Colin Douglas Howell (留言) 08:16, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
