Wrong license
[編輯]this is not a PD image. it is clearly a recolored copy of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NTSC-PAL-SECAM.svg which is about a year older.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.17.119.80 (talk) 15:01, 13 July 2007
- right, even the color of western sahara is unchanged, even though it should be grey. --72.196.0.51 (talk) 19:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- And how can you be sure? From the looks of it, although the author placed the key at the same location, the text style, borders, and colors are all different. It is still derived from the blank map regardless. - M0rphzone (talk) 07:00, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Greenland
[編輯]Greenland doesn't use NTSC. It should be blue instead of green. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.143.195.118 (talk) 17:19, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- For what does the opaque green of Bhutan and Western Sahara stand? And also Greenland should be blue per this source. Note that Greenland uses PAL while the United States military's small Thule Air Base uses NTSC, which would seem obvious. I don't know how to change Greenland's colour in Inkscape, if someone who does sees this, please go ahead and change it. Thank you! --72.75.55.29 07:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I updated the file on Commons with these corrections/additions:
- These countries/territories have PAL: Lichtenstein, Isle of Man, Brunei, Greenland, Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey, Buthan, Faroe Islands
- These countries/territories have PAL/SECAM: Luxembourg, Andorra
- As for Western Sahara, they have PAL/SECAM.

Digital television?
[編輯]I don't have the proper software, but could someone make a similar map for digital television standards? --72.196.0.51 (talk) 19:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Done: Image:Digital broadcast standards.svg. Note that you don't need any special software; a text editor will do. EdC (talk) 16:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Brazil
[編輯]Brazil is NTSC and should be green. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.237.132.130 (talk) 01:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- You are wrong, Brazil is not NTSC, it is PAL-M (very similar to NTSC but uses PAL for color encoding and a slightly modified color subcarrier), so brazil color is fine. --Alchaemist (talk) 05:38, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Indonesia uses both
[編輯]The default is PAL B/G, but I understand there is NTSC as well. DVD sold in Indonesia territory has either PAL or NTSC coding. While all video games release are in NTSC-J format. w_tanoto (talk) 09:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
ATSC
[編輯]NTSC has been phased out for ATSC. This image should be updated. Broadcasts are even in ATSC now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 3dec3 (talk • contribs) 13:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- ATSC is the standard now in the U.S. not NTSC. 3dec3 (talk) 13:09, 25 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 3dec3 (talk • contribs) 13:07, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- That's for digital TV broadcasts as seen here. This map is used for video game release regions and other broadcast standards. - M0rphzone (talk) 05:40, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Paraguay
[編輯]Paraguay is wrong, it is marked as NTSC (green), and in fact they use PAL-N (blue) just like Argentina and Uruguay. Somebody should change that. Sorry but I cannot. --Alchaemist (talk) 05:39, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Countries not using PAL anymore
[編輯]The article on PAL has a list of over a dozen of countries which are no longer using PAL, having completely switched to DVB-T. I'm not sure that it is correct to list that these countries still use PAL on this map. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:52, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
PAL
[編輯]France is PAL only now (since december 2011) — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheA5 (talk • contribs) 15:01, 20 April 2012
- No, France still uses SECAM L for their television broadcasts, but only on their analog cable TV network. The rest are DVB-T. --1.32.70.26 (talk) 12:56, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Why is Portugal light green?
[編輯]The light green colour used for Portugal is not mentioned in the map key; it is not the standard green. What does it mean? 86.164.246.89 (talk) 20:51, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
Moldova
[編輯]Uses SECAM, not PAL (as shown on the map). 109.156.239.92 (talk) 18:20, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
Luxembourg and Andorra n NTSC?
[編輯]The current version of this map seems to show Luxembourg and Andorra (Circles bordering france) in NTSC. Is this a mistake? I don't see any sign that these small countries ever did this. Algr (對話) 00:38, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
Shouldn't this be dated?
[編輯]Given the change towards digital HD standards and the death of analog over-the-air transmissions, shouldn't this be dated as of 1996 or as of 1999 or something, and make it clear that new countries and new standards are moot?--Prosfilaes (對話) 00:23, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
South Sudan is missing
[編輯]I would just like to point out that the map lacks South Sudan, an independent country south of Sudan. Gamingforfun365 (對話) 00:18, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
