I think this image is a hoax. Which newspaper does this picture come from ? At this time, illustrators were real professionals. They had all the time to draw beautiful illustrations. This picture is at my eyes a very ugly work of art. I am sorry to say this. Maybe someone can make some comparison with other illustrations done in the XIXth century. Also it looks like a comics illustration but without the skills of a real illustrator. I think again the first comics were done in the XXth century, not in the XIXth century. I cannot imagine a minute that there would be such ugly illustration done this way in the USA. Can someone make some comparison with other illustrations of the same period please ? Thank you !
