That looks like a pilot whale Cetacea - Delphinidae - Globicephala. Difficult to tell which species because we can't see the fins or shape of the head from the side. BoundaryRider (talk) 04:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

NOAA was formed in 1970, more than 70 years after this photograph was taken. So far NOAA's time travel experiments are undocumented. How then can it be that "[t]his image is in the public domain because it contains materials that originally came from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, taken or made during the course of an employee's official duties" ?
