Taken on a late August morning in 1989 from near the top of Tunstall Hill, Sunderland. The direction of view is towards the north east - with the sun shining from right to left.
The view shows :
(1) foreground - Leechmere and the cricket ground; (2) middle ground - the wooded area is mainly Ashbrook; (3) background - Hendon and the docks.
The view has changed little in the intervening years. The only major change being the construction of some modern apartment blocks in the Ashbrook area.
