Size[编辑]

Isn't the size of this SVG file too large? Displaying the full size file takes a while and it is difficult to scroll in small display. Could someone resize this? around WXGA 1280×768 size? -221.191.27.93 21:09, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[回复]

891KB isn't a heavy file weight, but yes, navigating in a SVG image is slower than in a raster one. Resizing the map would be a very bad idea as the actual size is necessary to see the very small details it contains and a small size would leave them unreadable. Sting 22:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[回复]
I thought to upload a PNG version of the map, but with a file weight of 1,932 KB I think it's not worth. Sting 20:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[回复]
I think the pixel size 5,000 × 2,525 is too large and can't display with laptop and other small displays.-218.110.183.229 08:55, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[回复]
I've uploaded a raster version (Image:Tectonic_plates_boundaries_detailed-en.png) slightly smaller to stay bellow the 12.5Mpx limit for people having problems to display the SVG file. I've indexed the colors so the file weight is not too big. I let those who want to replace the vector file by this raster one in the articles pages do it themselves. Direction of subduction south of New Zealand[编辑]

The map shows the Pacific Plate subducting beneath the Indo-Australian along the northern Macquarie Fault Zone south of New Zealand. Isn't any subduction there in the opposite direction? -- Avenue 21:13, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[回复]

After checking several sources ([1], [2]) I've updated the map. Thanks a lot for this correction. Sting 20:21, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Taiwan[编辑]

It seems to me that the direction of subduction on the Manila Trench (Strait of Luzon, between Taiwan and the Philippines) is incorrect. Also Taiwan is an orogenic belt (associated with arc-continent collision) and should thus be shaded. Sorry, I don't have citations handy at the moment.--173.29.204.72 06:42, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[回复]

Haiti/Dominican Republic split[编辑]

This map makes it look like the Island of Hispanola is split into two different Islands, Haiti and Dominican Republic. Please make a single island.Naraht (留言) 17:13, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[回复]

You're correct: the source map has an error. I will create a new background map soon. Sting (留言) 11:30, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[回复]
New version with upgraded background map uploaded. Sting (留言) 19:19, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[回复]

Plate codes[编辑]

The Pacific plate and Panama plate has the same code (PA). Maybe the Panama plate could be renamed PN? Soleincitta (留言) 10:04, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[回复]

Hello. You're right. In Mr Bird's global map the Panama plate is coded PA, but in another of its regional map it's coded PM. I'll confirm that and make the necessary correction. Thank you for the information. Sting (留言) 13:36, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[回复]
