update

[编辑]

@Korakys: Hello, could you please update the map with Nepal now having five years terms? And Groenland having fours years ones. Cordially.--Aréat (talk) 09:24, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]

Oh wow, this must be one of my older maps. I might remake it from a new template. --Korakys (talk) 09:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
Thanks a lot if you do. I will look up if there were any other changes.--Aréat (talk) 10:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
I have updated the map, went through the whole list again and found some problems (the list was missing Eritrea and Belize). It's not finished yet, still need to research some missing countries plus figure out what to do with non-sovereign legislatures like Greenland. Note: need to double check Nigeria/Niger. --Korakys (talk) 10:21, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
Thank you! Way better without the micro circles of non independent territories. In my opinion, Greenland should have the dabish term lenght, being part of the country. They've got two seats in the Danish parliament. I can attest on Niger having five years terms. I worked a lot on the latest election page of the french speaking wiki. The 2016 and 2020 years make it look like it's four, but that's only because the election took place on 27 December. The results are still being processed, and the newly elected deputies will take office in 2021 after the five years term.
As for Nigeria, it got four years terms. Hope this can help. --Aréat (talk) 13:38, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
The colours of Nigeria and Niger are switched compared to the previous map, so that's an old mistake not a new one thankfully.
I've taken the stance that if a sub-sovereign region has some form of representation in a higher legislature (or is not fully autonomous) then I wont mark it independently on the map. I'm much closer to being completed now, just have to add some smaller places like Niue.
I'm using a new map template and actually editing it in a text editor so if you open it up in a text editor that can display code (I'm using Sublime Text) then you can probably adjust things yourself if you want to (start looking at line 158 of the code). --Korakys (talk) 01:53, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
Sound good. Would allow for more flexibility. Right now, I just noticed Chad is colored with four years terms, when it's five (although the country has been de facto delaying elections since 2011). Same with DR Congo and Madagascar, who have five years terms. There's been a referendum last year in liberia on reducing the term from six to five, but the results still haven't been compiled.--Aréat (talk) 03:15, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
@Korakys: Also, French Guiana got sinked into the sea. ^^'. How exactly can I edit the map? I've never did that before with a .svg.--Aréat (talk) 03:21, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]

Here is a quick guide:

  1. Download the SVG map by first making it the only thing on the page (click on "original file"), right clicking on "save page as".
  2. Open the SVG with a text editor like Notepad++ [1]
  3. Scroll down to line 158 and have a look around.
  4. The country colours are controlled by using two letter codes, more info here: File_talk:BlankMap-World.svg
  5. Adjust something (moving a country from 4 to 5 years should be easy enough to figure out) then save it.
  6. Open the new SVG with a browser like Firefox to check that the change has worked.

For Chad, DR Congo, Madagascar I copied the data from the table so that needs to be updated too. I will raise French Guiana from the sea ^^; --Korakys (talk) 10:35, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]

Thanks! I will try fibbling with it, and update the table asap.--Aréat (talk) 14:49, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[回复]
