In October, anon #61.231.119.143 changed the description of this image from "nuns" to "lay believers". I'm not 100% certain, but they look like nuns to me: not only are they wearing robes, but the three closest to the camera are wearing ceremonial over-robes (kesa) which symbolise the robes worn by monks in ancient India. So, I'm reverting the change pending some reason to believe they are not nuns. - 85.195.119.22 04:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[回复]

I am not sure about the outer robes, but basic dark robes are standard for lay disciples. There is also a man in the pic, on the left with white hair. On special occasions, devoted laypeople will wear their robes, and that is typical. In any case, Chinese bhiksunis cannot keep their hair, and always have shaved heads. 99.124.82.129 15:09, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[回复]
