Is this a human? I'm guessing so, but to me (a layman on the subject) it's not clear from the description what species this is. Why was surgery done? Was the pregnancy aborted?

It is human (all pictures in the Categories Gross pathology and Histopathology are human). Patho 08:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[回复]
And for the record, the surgery was done -- and the pregnancy aborted -- because this was an ectopic pregnancy, meaning that the embryo was in the wrong place (specifically, it was in an oviduct instead of the uterus). If it had continued growing, it would have ruptured the oviduct and killed the mother. DS (talk) 18:22, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[回复]
