Criterion and the case of New Jersey
[编辑]What is the criterion for moving the capital "at least once"? I know off the top of my head that Texas changed capitals several times while it was an independent country, but by the time it was admitted the government of Texas had settled in Austin. I think a few states (e.g. Oregon and Wisconsin) also changed capitals while they were territories but haven't changed since statehood. Looking at this map I'm guessing that the cutoff is statehood, which makes sense to me. However, in that case, New Jersey should be on that list, since it had joint capitals (Perth Amboy and Burlington) upon independence in 1776, and only moved to the current capital at Trenton in 1784. Is this an oversight or is there something I'm missing? Lockesdonkey (留言) 21:27, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
