@Jirka.h23: Did the book actually include w:Papua_New_Guinea in the w:Western World in 1996? or is that coloured by mistake? They got independence from Australia in 1975. They have Christianity but so does Uganda, and they have English but so do India, Pakistan, Singapore, and a lot of others. Irtapil (留言) 15:32, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[回复]

@Irtapil: Just noticed that as well, there is no way thats correct. Also not sure about New-Caledonia. Jonas1015119 (留言) 16:55, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[回复]

Irtapil, yes it was included on the map in the book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order from Samuel P. Huntington. I uploaded an illustration for you on internet: here. BTW, you can comment on the ongoing discussion at Talk:Western world / RfC: Map / Discussion / Papua New Guinea here. But it seems, that we will remove it, based for example on this source. Jonas1015119, thanks for the alert, New-Caledonia is not included on the map, I will remove it. Jirka.h23 (留言) 06:31, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[回复]
@Jonas1015119 and Jirka.h23: Thank you. Can you make sure that reference is included where the image is used, please. Last time i saw it in context it had a revised image but still described Samuel P. Huntington's "Class of Civilizations" as the source.
Someone in the talk page for one of the places the image is used linked the original map from "Clash of Civilizations", it appears Samuel P. Huntington lumped PNG in with "Western World" just because they didn't fit anywhere else. Grouping PNG as "other" makes much more sense.
It seems he grouped it with western mainly to fit his over simplified theory. It only makes sense at all to group it with "western" in the context where all of Samuel P. Huntington's "worlds" shown.
