File structure

@Delusion23: Thank you for the update. But next time, please edit the file as text, just moving the country code to the appropriate line in the top section of the file. Software like Inkscape adds a lot of unnecessary code, increasing the file size and complicating future edits as text. Heitordp (トーク) 08:25, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

@Heitordp: Apologies, I currently don't know how to edit SVGs as text, only through Inkscape. Are you able to give me instruction or directions towards a good source to teach me it how to do it? That would be much appreciated. I find that SVGs are currently a big barrier to the average user being able to easily update files. It puts off average users from using an otherwise good file format and forces them into PNGs instead. Del_Usion23 (talk) 19:10, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

@Delusion23: I made the file with classes, to make it easy for anyone to edit it as text. All settings are in the top section. There are several lines in this format:

.xa,.xb {fill:#RRGGBB}

.xc,.xd {fill:#C0C0C0}

where .xa, .xb, .xc, .xd are ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes, and RRGGBB and C0C0C0 are color codes. So for example, if you want to change the color of country .xa from RRGGBB to C0C0C0, change the lines to:

.xb {fill:#RRGGBB}

.xc,.xd,.xa {fill:#C0C0C0}

For countries with more than one time zone, there is a code for each part of the country, ending with a number. For example, .ca-6 means the part of Canada in UTC-6, and .au930 means the part of Australia in UTC+9:30. Heitordp (トーク) 11:24, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
