Dear Electionworld and Wikipedia

The map at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:World_500_BCE.png is definitely wrong. The Persian Empire did NOT stretch to Morocco and especially to Spain.

These seem to be Carthaginian which has been placed inside the Persian Empire.

Please check your history - I cannot use this map with my students because of this.

It is Carthage which is shown there - the same colour has been used for Carthage as on Persia. Just because it is the same colour doesnt mean its the same thing --Astrokey44 12:50, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[返信]
It does imply that they are the same type of state - they were not. Carthage was a republic that held an extensive hegemony on the same lines as Sparta and later Athens. Persia was an autocracy.Dejvid (talk) 11:32, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[返信]
Further Carthage is given far more extensive territory than it held at this time.Dejvid (talk) 11:33, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[返信]

The Kushan empire seems too big in this map. Did their territory really extended through the Lake Baikal? They're not even close to India, as they used to worship Indian gods. -L

What's the point in having such a detailed map that you can't make larger to read the words?
