The dorsal network comprises the intraparietal sulcus (IPS) and the frontal eye fields (FEF) of each hemisphere, while the ventral network comprises the temporoparietal junction (TPJ) and the ventral frontal cortex (VFC).

Whereas there is evidence for a bilateral organization of the dorsal system, the ventral system might be more lateralized to the right hemisphere, although this assumption is challenged by recent neuroimaging data.
