English: Paul Kane (1810 - 1871), Irish-Canadian painter. Made two trips through the Canadian Northwest 1845 - 1848, from Toronto to the Oregon Territory and back, on which he sketched extensively. Once back in Toronto, he produced more than 120 oil paintings from these sketches.

Deutsch: Paul Kane (1810 - 1871), irisch-kanadischer Maler. Unternahm 1845 bis 1848 zwei ausgedehnte Reisen duch den Nordwesten Kanadas, von Toronto bis an die Pazifikküste, während derer er mehr als 700 Skizzen der Landschaft und ihren Bewohnern malte. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Toronto fertigte er von diesen Skizzen ausgehend mehr als 120 Gemälde an.
Português: Paul Kane (1810 - 1871), pintor irlando-canadense. Fez duas viagens através do noroeste do Canadá 1845 - 1848, partindo de Toronto até chegar no território do Oregon e retornando. Durante o trajeto realizou muitos esboços de paisagens, de povos indígenas e seus instrumentos de uso diário. De volta a Toronto, produziu mais de 120 pinturas a óleo a partir desses esboços.
