18th series (a.k.a. 194o) Packards were partially new models, and partially facelifted, with the new large Super Eight One-Sixty and Custom Super Eight One-Eighty replacing the former "senior" Packard Super Eight and Twelve. All Packards were now assembled on modern lines. The new "seniors" used the "juniors" tooling, but were longer, more powerful and better trimmed.

These cars are easily identified by a narrow grille flanked by side grilles, headlights partially sunken in the front fender, and new hood side trim referring to model designation.
