  "​Debain Maison fondée à Paris en 1834 par Alexandre Debain, facteur de pianos. S’inspirant des différents systèmes d’orgues expressifs développés depuis plusieurs années, Debain met au point le modèle type de l’Harmonium dans un brevet de 1842 qui consacre le nom et la disposition générale de l’instrument. En 1854, Debain installe son commerce dans un vaste immeuble qu’il édifie place Lafayette. En 1863, il construit une importante usine à Saint-Ouen pour la fabrication de ses harmoniums, pianos et pianos mécaniques. La société Debain & Cie, formée en 1874, est dissoute en 1877 à la mort du fondateur. Elle est reprise par sa veuve et ses enfants en 1878 jusqu’en 1885, date à laquelle la marque Debain est rattachée à la maison Rodolphe & Fils. Elle est ensuite reprise après la Première Guerre mondiale par Albert Chaperon, puis par Kasriel en 1936. "​Debain House founded in Paris in 1834 by Alexandre Debain, piano maker. Drawing inspiration from the various expressive organ systems developed over several years, Debain developed the standard model of the Harmonium in a patent of 1842 which established the name and general layout of the instrument. In 1854, Debain set up his business in a large building that he erected on Place Lafayette. In 1863, he built a large factory in Saint-Ouen for the manufacture of his harmoniums, pianos and mechanical pianos. Debain & Cie, formed in 1874, was dissolved in 1877 on the death of the founder. It was taken over by his widow and children in 1878 until 1885, when the Debain brand was attached to the Rodolphe & Fils house. It was then taken over after the First World War by Albert Chaperon, then by Kasriel in 1936.
