English: André Durand (1807-1867), was a French painter, lithographer and traveller, made a trip to Russia to relieve the peasants, financed by Anatole Demidov, the results of which were published as «Voyage pittoresque et archéologique en Russie» (1839)

Note: He is not to be confused with the Canadian painter André Durand (b. 1947)

Русский: Андре Дюран (1807-1867), французский художник, литограф и путешественник. По приглашению князя А. Н. Демидова в 1839 году совершил путешествие в Россию и зарисовал с натуры виды многих российских городов (Кронштадт, Петербург, Новгород Великий, Тверь, Москва, Сергиев Посад, Владимир, Нижний Новгород, Казань), их архитектурных памятников, а заодно и деревень по пути к ним. На основании путевых зарисовок позднее выполнил 100 литографий, которые вошли в альбом «Живописное путешествие в Россию», опубликованный в 1842 году весьма ограниченным тиражом в Париже.
