The photos in this category were taken at the April 25, 2014 "Remembering José de Diego" event at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, New Jersey, which was held to commemorate Puerto Rican statesman José de Diego and to honor the Puerto Rican community. An exhibit of artwork was on display at the Center by artists Edwin Trinidad, Alma Peralta and Ben Roman. These three artists were honored with proclamations by the city, as were actor Indio Melendez and businessperson Jazlyn Carvajal, who were named Union City's 2014 Puerto Rican Man of the Year and Woman of the Year, respectively. Also honored was 2013 Puerto Rican Man of the Year, poet Hector Luis Rivera, who recited one of his pieces at the ceremony. On hand to present these honors were Union City Mayor and State Senator Brian P. Stack, his Commissioners Lucio Fernandez, Tilo Rivas and Maryury Martinetti and art curator Amado Mora. Performing at the event was the musical quartet Deep Pockets. Members of the Union City High School JROTC were also present for the presentation of flags during the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner.
