English: This alleyway (Beco) is named after Almeida Garrett who's full name is João Baptista da Silva Leitão de Almeida Garrett, Viscount of Almeida Garrett (born 4 February 1799 – died 9 December 1854) was a Portuguese poet, playwright, novelist and politician, who is considered to be the introducer of the Romantic movement in Portugal. Garrett is regarded as one of history's greatest Romanticists and a true revolutionary and humanist.
