- Das Wort Beskid/Beskidy ist mit dem Wort beshêt, beskēt „Scheide, Wasserscheide“ verwandt. Unwahrscheinlich ist die Abstammung vom walachischen Wort bjeshkë Prof. Zbigniew Gołąb, Kraków (2004); Prof. Janusz Parczewski, Sanok (2013).
