Type 59 knew only eight specimens assembled by the factory of Molsheim, plus two reconstituted much later starting from a stock of spare parts of origin. Of the eight original cars, four (chassis 59-121, 122, 123, 124) were sold to British amateur drivers, hence their nickname of "four English type 59" and one (probably the prototype with its chassis number 57-248 inherited from the previous type), after transformation of its bodywork by the factory, was ceded to King Leopold III of Belgium. The next and last three cars were fitted with the 50 B engine in three versions: 4741 cc, 4433 cc and 2892 cc to adapt to regulatory changes.
