English: Dzongs of BhutanDzongs ("temple fortresses") located within Bhutan.
  • Building compounds which may serve several functions — as Buddhist monasteries and district government offices, and historically as fortresses and palaces. As part of the Bhutanese 'dual system' there is one Dzong in each of the districts or Dzongkhags of Bhutan which serves as both the government headquarters for that district and the main monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu monastic body for that district.

Note: There are also several geographical locations and pilgrimage places in Bhutan also referred to as "Dzongs" (e.g Senge Dzong and the seven Dzongs of Longchenpa) but these are not Dzongs in the same sense.
