English: Fairlands is a settlement in Guildford Borough of the county of Surrey, England. It has a population of 1,444. Originally developed in the 1930s, with some roads of semi-detached houses, and bungalows, it was considerably expanded around 1960, when many more roads were built. Also in the early 1960s, eight shops, a new community centre and a doctor's surgery were built. A primary school was added in the late 1960s. Fairlands is about three miles from the centre of Guildford and still separated from it by countryside. It is served by a bus service along the adjoining A323 Guildford-Aldershot road. It is distinctive in continuing to reject street lighting so as to retain a rural aspect
