English: Falls of Foyers was a full-rigged four-masted iron ship built in 1883 by Russel & Co., Greenock (yard No 58), for Falls Line Company Glasgow (Wright & Breakenridge). The ship was mainly employed in the Indian jute trade. 1893 sold to Wright, Graham & Co., Glasgow. Wrecked and sunk 1899 at Heligoland on voyage from Junin to Hamburg with Nitrate (striking a rock).
Her dimensions were = length × beam × depth: 274.1 × 41 × 24.1 ft (83.5 × 12.4 × 7.3 m) and she had a tonnage of 2009 GRT and 1974 NRT. Rigged with royal sails over double top and topgallant sails. The jiggermast was rigged with single top and topgallant sails. [1][2]
