Since 2013, every year the Republic of Austria celebrates the Fest der Freude (Party of Joy). It takes place in the evening of May 8th, the day the Nazi regime ceased to exist. On Vienna's Heldenplatz a free concert of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra is attended by several thousand citizens. The main goal of this huge endeavor is to celebrate the anniversary of the Austria's independence on May 8, 1945.
