English: Fort Vernon (also called Fort Prampram) was a British fortification at the coastal town Prampram, (Ghana). It was built in 1806 at the then village Gbugbla on the place of a former British factory but which was been already entirely ruined in 1783. However, the building completion was executed with bad building material, some incompetence as well as with too great haste because of an advanced Ashanti army and in expectation of the outbreak of an English-Danish war in Europe and corresponding military actions on the Gold Coast. The result was that this building was abandonned again and almost ruined already again in 1811. It was later re-buiilded and used again by the British.
