The Ganga Dynasty (350–999 and 498-1434 CE) was an important ruling dynasty that ruled two empires in different ocasions (In fact they ruled concurrently between 498 and 999). Despite being disputed, it's possible that the Easterners descended from the Westerners (that's why both families are grouped here). They are known as Western Gangas and Eastern Gangas to distinguish themselves from each other branch. Westerners ruled at ancient Karnataka in India; Easterners ruled over modern Orissa.
