Goya was originally a guitar brand of Hershman Musical Instrument Company, New York (later Goya Music). Goya Music was known as a US distributor of Levin guitars (by Herman Carlson Levin Musikinstrumentfabrik), and distributed Levin guitars under the Goya brand in the United States.
In late 1960s, Goya Music was acquired by Avnet Inc., and distribution rights of Goya brand was several times moved. In 1976, Goya brand was finally owned by C. F. Martin & Company (CF Martin) who already purchased the majority of the Levin Company in 1973. CF Martin offered imported Japanese and Korean instruments under the Goya brand until 1990s.
