Hermann Weber was one of 3 sons of Leipzig-based publisher Johann Jacob Weber. As his father died and Felix took over the "Illustrirte Zeitung", Hermann, who had undergone training to become a book printer and trader took over the general publishing house in Leipzig and continued his father's intention to enlighten the people with illustrated teaching publications like the "Illustrirte Katechismen" (guides on all major trades, businesses and sciences) and "Illustrirte Gesundheitsbücher" (guides on the organs in the body, healthy diet and caring for the sick).
