English: The Horsefly Shales are an early Eocene (Ypresian) series of rock in an unnamed geologic formation that records the sedimentation as part of a string of highland subtropical/Temperate lakes in Washington state and British Columbia called the Eocene Okanagan Highlands. The formation is best known for exceptionally well preserved fish and insect fossils.
