Deutsch: Das 16. Infanterie-Regiment „Großherzog Ferdinand von Toskana“ der Königlich Bayerischen Armee wurde mit Stiftungstag vom 1. Oktober 1878 gegründet. Das Regiment hatten seine Garnison in Passau, das I. Bataillon war in Landshut detachiert. In der Friedensgliederung bis 1914 gehörte das Regiment zur 2. (kgl.bayer.) Infanterie-Brigade (Sitz in München), diese zur 1. (kgl.bayer.) Infanterie-Division (ebenfalls München), und diese zum I. (kgl.bayer.) Armee-Korps.
