- Former Kovács Mill. Est. 1888. Mihály Kovács Jr. develops the company into one of the country's major milling companies. Mihály Kovács was a member of the county's legislative committee, the municipal council of Békéscsaba, and from 1922 he was chairman of the Békéscsaba Industrial Board. He founded the Iparos Bank in Békéscsaba, which later merged into the branch of the Hungarian General Savings Bank Rt., and he was also responsible for founding the headquarters of industrialists (Kossuth tér 8.). In 1922, next to the old mill building, a four-storey, new mill was built according to the plans of Alajos Josnik, an engineer from Budapest, executed by master mason Pál Likker. The output was ten railway wagons per day. Flour and barley were exported from here to Czechoslovakia and Austria. In the mid-1960s it was converted into a warehouse, then the Békés County Joint Industry Company (from 1983 Körös Boiler Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Company) operated here. The mill's grain storage warehouse and slender, tall, mansard-roofed tower were demolished in the fall of 1974. On the north side, a one-story wing is attached to the building, which was originally a machine and boiler room. Kovács-malmot Kovács Mátyás 1888-ban alapította, unokája ifj. Kovács Mihály a vállalatot az ország egyik jelentős malomvállalatává fejleszti. Kovács Mihály tagja volt a vármegye törvényhatósági bizottságának, Békéscsaba képviselő-testületének, 1922-től a békéscsabai Ipartestület elnöke volt. Ő alapította a békéscsabai Iparos Bankot, mely később a Magyar Általános Takarékpénztár Rt. fiókintézetébe olvadt és nevéhez fűződik az iparosok székházának (Kossuth tér 8.) megalapítása is. 1922-ben a régi malomépület mellett négyemeletes, új malom épült Josnik Alajos budapesti mérnök tervei szerint, Likker Pál kőművesmester kivitelezésében. Napi tíz vagon volt a teljesítmány. Csehszlovákia és Ausztria részére lisztet és árpakását exportáltak 1960-as évek közepén raktárrá alakították, majd a Békés Megyei Vegyesipari Vállalat (1983-tól Körös Kazángyártó és Gépipari Vállalat) működött itt. A malom gabonatároló raktárát és karcsú, magas, manzárdtetős tornyát 1974 őszén robbantották le. Az északi oldalon az épülethez egyemeletes szárny csatlakozik, amely eredetileg gép- és kazánház volt.
