The ATMega328-based LCR and transistor testers were introduced around 2016. The LCR-T4 is the most basic in the series, selling for around $10 in 2021 (shipping included). It has no internal step-up DCDC converter and thus cannot test zeners above 4.5 Volts. It has PCB pads for testing SMD devices, but once the board s mounted in its case, the pads are almost unaccessible. The stock case is a set of six laser-milled acrylic glass pieces, held together with screws and nuts. More sophisticated models can test zeners to around 30V, have a proper plastic case shell, and sometimes a rechargeable lithium battery.
