English: Bay on the north side of mainland Cuba and the north coast of Matanzas Province. It opens into the Straits of Florida. Matanzas, municipality and capital of province, is at the end of Matanzas Bay. On September 7 and 8, 1628, it saw the Battle in the Bay of Matanzas, Dutch fleet heavily winning over Spanish fleet.
