This monument was sculpted by Antonio Bozzano (1858-1939) in 1913, and bears his signature on the starboard side of the boat. In 1927 a copy of the Angel sculpture and boat (without the artist's signature) was donated to the Municipality of Rio Claro, State of São Paulo, Brasil, by the local Italian community to commemorate the arrival of Italian immigrants and to celebrate community unity. It is known as the Anjo da Concórdia (Angel of Unity).
