Deutsch: Newtown ist die größte Stadt im walisischen County Powys beziehungsweise im traditionellen County Montgomeryshire. Sie wurde 1280 gegründet und liegt am Fluss Severn, 24 km südwestlich von Welshpool. Bekannt ist Newtown als Geburtsort des großen Sozialreformers Robert Owen, der auch hier begraben wurde. An sein Leben und sein Werk erinnert das Robert Owen Memorial Museum.

English: Newtown is the largest town in the county of Powys, Wales. It had a population of 12,783 in 2001. Lying on the River Severn, within the historic boundaries of Montgomeryshire, the town is best known as the birthplace of Robert Owen in 1771 with his former house now being a museum.
