Packard 626 is the designation for the larger of the two Packard Standard Eights offered in the 6th series, sitting below the longer Model 633.
Packard experimented with a sportier model in 1929, with the large, slightly tuned Custom Eight engine in a modified 626 chassis. Technically a 626 model, it was designated the Packard Speedster.
The Standard Eight was a new model in 1929. It replaced the Packard Six of the previous year. 626 and 636 were succeeded by the 1930 Packard 726 and 733, the Speedster became the 734 Speedster Eight line.
6th series correlates with the 1929 model year.
