English: The Philippine—American War (1899–1913), is also known as the Philippine War of Independence.
- The Philippine independence movement began in 1892 against the 300 years of Spanish colonial rule in East India, which intensified in the 1896–1898 Philippine Revolution, and extended through the 1898 Spanish–American War.

- The independence movement was renewed by the First Philippine Republic in 1899, against the new U.S. colonial rule of the Philippines, as the Philippine-American War—Philippine War of Independence. It officially ended in 1902. However, members of the Katipunan Society continued independence efforts and hostilities until 1913.
