- In Poland. Upside down Christmas tree - in southern Poland small fir or spruce, hung down on Christmas Eve from the ceiling bar in the prominent corner of the room. In the region of Rzeszów this was called jutka, in other regions of areas the names were different: podłaźnik, połaźnik. Podłaźnik or Sad is a Christmas decoration that pre-dated the imported German Christmas tree in Poland.
- In Serbia. Полажајник, полазник (polažajnik, polaznik) is the first person who comes to the house on Christmas Day called.
