The base of this pricket candlestick bears the dimidiated arms of Bernard VIII (c.1285–1336/9), Count of Comminges, impaling those of his second wife, Marguerite de Turenne (1285-1314), a daughter of Raymond VII, Viscount of Turenne. Alternating with the royal arms of France (ancient), either the arms of Philip IV of France (ruled 1285-1314) or of his successor Louis X (ruled 1314-1316), or possibly two or three later kings
