English: Shiko, originally called shiko-ashi, is a gesture in sumo wrestling where a wrestler raises one foot high into the air and stomps on the ground. In addition to being one of the most important aspects of sumo training, shiko also has the religious meaning of stepping on the ground to appease the gods.
