The Southern Cemetery is a division of al-Qarafa or City of the Dead, the Islamic-era necropolis of Cairo. It is a label that applies to a number of historic cemetery zones, all roughly south of the Cairo Citadel, stretching from Sayyida Ruqayya and Sayidda Nafisa in the north to the Imam al-Shafi'i mausoleum and further south to the edge of Basatin/Basateen.
