English: Common name for a number of tropical plant species sharing a common "strangling" growth habit, mostly of the genus Ficus, including some banyans, and unrelated vines.

Français : Nom donné communément à des plantes tropicales ayant la particularité de pousser en "étranglant" d'autres plantes à l'aide de leurs racines aériennes. On les trouve pricipalement dans le genre Ficus mais aussi le pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) ou des lianes.
