Deutsch: Der Begriff Tiki existiert in den Sprachen verschiedener Völker Polynesiens und bedeutet ursprünglich so viel wie „Mann“, „Mensch“ oder auch „erster Mensch“. Tikis bezeichnet heute zumeist aus Holz geschnitzte, aber zum Teil auch in Stein gehauene Ahnenfiguren, die im Ahnenkult einiger Südseekulturen gleichbedeutend mit Götterfiguren sind.

English: Tiki refers to large wood and stone carvings of humanoid forms in Central Eastern Polynesian cultures of the Pacific Ocean. The term is also used as it relates to Māori mythology where Tiki is "the first man".
